Healthy Relationships

People in healthy relationships respect each other. Communication is open and honest. Both partners are able to share their personal feelings, beliefs, and ideas without fear. They support, trust, and encourage each other in all areas of growth. Partners are each free to engage in independent activities and time with friends. Boundaries are clear, respected, and discussed openly.

A healthy relationship makes both partners feel safe and is enjoyable. Partners are able to say “no” without fear of the other’s reaction. They treat each other as equals and support one another to pursue individual goals.

Partners remain in the relationship because each chooses to do so - not out of fear or obligation. Difficult emotions, disagreements, and differing opinions are able to be shared and discussed safely.

Both partners are accountable for their actions, are able to admit mistakes and say, “I’m sorry.”
